Dr. Irene Skirius education is a product of the University of Illinois in Chicago. For her undergraduate degree, she majored in Biology and minored in Spanish. She received her Masters of Public Health and then her Doctor of Dental Surgery. She did her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. Since graduating she has practiced at several locations, including over 25 years at the Dental Group Ltd. in the Professional Building of the Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Skirius not only maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society (she is active in the West Side branch of the CDS), but also in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Women Dentists, and the Hispanic Dental Association.Dr. Skirius is focused on working with children. She finds that they provide a unique joy and challenge all at once. To keep current with the ever-changing scientific and procedural developments in dentistry, Dr. Skirius obtains over 40 hours of continuing education every year. She takes pride helping her patients stay abreast of changes in the dental arena and shares pertinent information and developments with both patients and parents. Dr. Skirius and her husband Stan have two children Vytas and Birute who now are pursuing their own goals and interests in life.
While out of the office, Dr. Skirius enjoys traveling. She likes to spend time outdoors in her garden, growing both vegetables and flowers. Cooking has become another interest, allowing her to enjoy the harvest of her garden.
